Capturing a Print

Capturing a Fingerprint

Picture

Before Beginning...

Make sure your hands are clean and free of debris before taking a fingerprint. Also, have a blank piece of white paper available to use for printing.

Next...

Take an impression of all of your fingertips.  You will find that some fingerprint patterns are much more  detailed than others making for a nicer looking finished piece. Press your finger in the ink and then LIGHTLY tap on a blank piece of paper.  Attempting to 'roll' your finger will only distort the print, so just tap gently like you would to test a hot surface. If you have questions about your prints clarity, ask your local retailer for assistance.
Note: This same process can be applied to capturing hand and footprints.

Capturing a Paw Print

Picture
Purchase a washable ink pad from any hobby store or big box retailer, large enough to capture the entire paw of your pet. Black/blue ink works best. Wash off your pet's paw, apply ink, and press firmly onto a white piece of paper. Repeat this process at least 3 times if possible to try and capture the best print.

From Plaster Cast to Pendant

Picture
Take a clear picture of your pets plaster cast and print it out in black and white. Take a sharpie and outline the edges of the paw print. ( Tip: Keep the plaster mold beside you for reference.) This will help considerably to ensure the best replica of your pooch's print.
